Update 2:57 p.m.: Jayden Bellamy and Aljiah Clark who missed last week were spotted in uniform participating in warmups. Trebor Pena who left the UConn game early is also dressed and going through warmups. Umari Hatcher is on the sidelines with a leg brace and crutches.
Syracuse (8-3, 4-3 ACC) takes on No. 6 Miami (10-1, 6-1) in one of the most anticipated season finales in recent Syracuse football history.
Saturday marks the first time a top team plays inside the JMA Wireless Dome since 2019.
Syracuse is coming off a close 31-24 win over UConn where the offense performed at maybe the highest level it has all season.
Kyle McCord set the school’s single-season passing record and finished the game with 470 passing yards and two touchdowns. Three Syracuse pass catchers had over 100 yards, with Darrell Gill Jr. leading the way with 177 yards. Jackson Meeks and Oronde Gadsden II added 110 and 103 yards, respectively.
In a game where the offense was clicking on all cylinders, the defense couldn’t quite put the game away, but the defense did hold a UConn rushing attack that came into the game averaging over 200 yards a game to 124 yards.
This week, the team will be tasked with containing one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Cam Ward.
The Hurricanes’ quarterback is second in the country in passing yards behind only McCord and is a projected first-round draft pick.
In Miami’s 42-14 win against Wake Forest last week, Ward threw for 280 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and added one rushing score. For the season, he has 3,774 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns with seven interceptions.
The Orange will be looking to play spoiler on Saturday as a win would give Miami a spot in the ACC Championship Game against SMU.
